Jeffry Thomas Negard, DNP
I am a doctoral prepared Family Nurse Practitioner with 15 years of experience in nursing, advanced scholarship and research, team-building, and improvement of Electronic Health Record documentation systems. For the past three years, I have served as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a busy U.S. Army Patient Centered Medical Home and a Military Correctional Facility caring for active duty soldiers, retirees, and family members. Currently, I am transitioning from the U.S Army and seeking opportunities to instruct in an undergraduate nursing program and a graduate Family Nurse Practitioner program while maintaining my own clinical skills as a Family Nurse Practitioner providing direct patient care in a Family Medicine clinic.
I graduated with my BSN from California State University, Fresno, and completed my Doctor of Nursing Practice at the Uniformed Services University in the Graduate School of Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner Program. My previous nursing experience includes 8yrs in Critical Care/Emergency Services, completing the U.S. Army’s rigorous Critical Care course, obtaining my CCRN, and providing bedside care in the medical, surgical/trauma, and burn ICUs at the U.S Department of Defense’s only Level 1 trauma center in San Antonio, TX. In 2010, I deployed with a multinational medical team, delivering care in both the Trauma Room and Intensive Care Unit at a Spanish hospital in Afghanistan.
As a Family Medicine Super User for the Department of Defense’s new Electronic Healthcare Record (EHR) system, my interests in healthcare informatics and documentation improvement were utilized by serving on both the Patient Centered Medical Home and the Informatics Steering Board Committees, helping improve the EHR and creating solutions for workflow and documentation problems.
